Which of the following represents the order of dipole moment for an alkyl halide (RX) ?
1. RF > RCl > RBr
2. RF < RCl < RBr
3. RF > RCl < RBr
4. RCl > RF > RBr

RCl will have the highest dipole moment between the three.

Only answer choice is (4).

I have not yet started preparing organic chemistry thoroughly, but I think the answer should be in the order of Fluoride, chloride, bromide. So, it is either 1 or 2

Since Fluoring is a small molecule, RF will probably not have enough dipole moment, I would go with anser choice 2

your explanation is right ganesh, but the Cl bond with an alkyl bond has a higher dipole moment wen comapred to an Fl atom

ok try this new question :)
(the nos are basically subscripts)
HBr reacts with CH2 = CH – OCH3 under anhydrous conditions in room temperature to give
a. CH3 – CHBr – OCH3
b. CH3CHO AND CH3Br
c. BrCH2CHO & CH3OH
d. BrCH2 - CH2 – OCH3
